How to download and use
Living Books EXPRESS

So, let's explain how to do this...
First, you need to download the program. Just RIGHT CLICK the link below and "save target" to a convenient directory on your computer. (The .exe file is about 1 meg in size, so it may take a couple of minutes on a dialup connection.)

NOTE to MAC users: Right now, this program will only work on PCs, not Macs. (Sorry!) We WILL continue to send out our weekly email newsletter (at least for the time being), so hopefully you can keep up with it via email (if your ISP allows it to get to you, that is). Also, remember that each week's current program is ALWAYS available through the link at our home page, www.homeschoolradioshows.com.
Installing 'Living Books EXPRESS' is easy!
'Living Books EXPRESS' does not need an installation program. Just go to the file in whatever directory you downloaded it to on your computer, and click the icon to run the program.
Configuring 'Living Books EXPRESS' is very simple.
1. Choose whether you are on "dialup" or "always online" (if you are on broadband access, you are "always online"). The only thing this does is to tell 'Living Books EXPRESS' how often to check for new editions of our newsletter & special bonus programs. If you are on a broadband connection, it will check on updates every 6 hours. If you are on a dialup connection, it is set to check for updates every 24 hours. (By the way, for you techies, this program only sends a teeny, tiny 40 byte 'ping' to the 'Living Books EXPRESS' site to check on updates. It doesn't get in the way of anything else you are doing online.)
2. Choose 'enable'.
3. Choose 'send to tray'.
What happens next:
'Living Books EXPRESS' will sit silently in your system tray (that's the row of icons across the bottom of your screen) until a new edition of our newsletter or special bonus programs is uploaded. At that point, a small notification balloon will pop up on the lower right hand side of your screen.
When it does, just click inside the balloon to be taken online to the most recent edition of our newsletter. From there, you can also access our current archived programs.
'Living Books EXPRESS' will only notify you of updates when you are online. It won't do anything when you are offline.

OPTIONAL: For those of you who are "into" RSS & Blog feeds: Another nifty feature of 'Living Books EXPRESS' is that it is also capable of alterting you to the publication of other RSS feeds. If you know the address of an RSS feed that you'd like to subscribe to, you can enter its details by clicking on the 'Manage Secondary Feeds' option from the 'Living Books EXPRESS' main interface.
